Titardinal's Spire is an ordinary-seeming stone tower at the edge of a large, live-giving lake. Few borderlands towers are so well placed, and it has changed hands many times. Unfortunately, Titardinal wove magic into every brick of his tower, making it a difficult place to hold onto for long. But the wizard's loftiest ambition was never achieved—perhaps you will claim it!
Many thanks to my patrons, once again - you have unlocked all the full-resolution graphics under CC-BY-NC for anyone to use:
I ran this dungeon for a one shot and it was brilliant! Thanks. Definitely keen to try some of the others. I missed the Compendium Kickstarter - right day wrong timezone - is there a late pledge option?
ReplyDeleteThere's no late pledge option, but both the PDF and a POD hardcover will eventually be up on DriveThruRPG, so you haven't missed anything!
DeleteForgot to say, if you want a notification and link when those products go up, pop your email in the (very low traffic) mailing list on the sidebar, there.
DeleteGreat! Thanks and good luck!
DeleteAbout to run this tonight, thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the adventure, it's really great. There's one thing I'm not entirely clear about, though.
ReplyDeleteIf the giants are blind to anything blue, how is the tapestry in the room 18 confusing them? Shouldn't they be able to see the corridor through it?
I realize I might be making an ass of myself and missing something obvious (after all nobody has pointed it out since almost five years).
Yes, good question! The curse means you never notice anything that's blue. It's not that it's invisible and you can see things beyond it, that part of your field of view never enters your awareness. (Like when you're looking for the mayo in the fridge and it's right in front of you.)
DeleteIf someone is doing a systematic search, like explicitly saying, "I touch every part of the south wall, east wall, west wall, north wall," then I think that would overcome the curse (e.g. by the GM saying something fishy like, "the north wall is kinda nondescript, hard to say really,") but anyone doing a less determined search would simply never notice anything is noteworthy about it.
Got it, thanks!
DeletePour les francophones, j'ai traduit ce donjon ici : https://lucas-c.itch.io/la-tour-ciel-aveugle
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant - thank you for publishing it! My only question is: what's stopping the giants from just backtracking all the way out the front door? Like why is the one blue tapestry stopping them?
ReplyDeleteThey can't see the blue tapestry, they've been affected by the curse. They walk through the room as they have done many times and don't notice anything, so they just look elsewhere fruitlessly.
DeleteI got that part, but that only keeps them from finding shortcut A that leads back to the beginning, right? Is there something stopping them from walking down hallway 13, then turning west to room 12 and just following the rooms counting backward?
DeleteIt's a weakness in the logic, as written. I think the best interpretation is that they've only been trapped a few days, and they're aware there was a way out along familiar paths, and are not entering unfamiliar rooms because they know that's not how they came in. They're too flustered, arguing among themselves to start systematically exploring further in (possibly after some bad encounters with pelicans).
DeleteI found this last fall or so while reviewing all the One Page Dungeon winners. I recognized the art, looked you up, and found that I also owned this in hardcover form! I purchased the Trilemma bundle and Bestiary for Year Zero Engine some time ago. I just had the opportunity to run the adventure yesterday using Shadowdark. Most of my players at my open table had a great time, and I learned that two of them need more combat to stay engaged 😉 .
ReplyDeleteThis was an entertaining adventure to run! Thank you for making cool stuff!
That's great, Ryan, thanks for commenting. Now I'm envisioning a random roll you make each time you enter the room. On a 1-3, it's as described in the text, on a 4-6, once you're in the room for 30 seconds, d6 ninjas come in through the window. :P
